Hi Rose,

Unfortunately, being only a guest on the podcast, I can’t answer either of those questions. My instinct though is that it isn’t likely – I think the original series was promoting a film.

1) Is there going to be a second season?
2) Any way to make this more broadly available on other podcast apps besides Apple, for those of us who don’t use them?

I agree. I absolutely hated this podcast. Totally sensationalized. It’s clear Focus Features paid for this only as a way to push their new psycho-thriller “Greta” (out today in theaters). I hope it’s as bad as it looks and that not many people go see it because I worry that this sort of one-dimensional depiction of off-the-rails limerence–leading to dangerous and maybe deadly consequences–will start the public down a path of even greater misunderstanding about this issue.

One positive here: this podcast made me appreciate the nuance and compassion of Dr. Limerence’s blog topics and the discussion from participants on this site. Maybe someone with the blog-handle “Bunny Boiler” will chime in soon and turn it into something more…exciting. But gosh, I hope not.

Wow, I think it’s awesome you participated in the podcast with your perspective! From what little I’ve read, your story is similar to mine –I
also disclosed to my husband and though his reaction was not super positive, it was also not overblown. Kind of “well, I’m a bit worried you feel that way toward someone else but hope it goes away”.

Yes, very true. During the course of our interview, when I revealed that I had told my husband about my LE and he was extremely supportive, I could practically hear the interviewer fall off his chair. That’s when I knew they were probably going for something more headline-worthy. Still, it was a good experience.

Yes, they were definitely going for the unhealthy obsession angle.

The producers were very open and friendly, and I think they were a bit surprised by my perspective on limerence. They obviously only used a snippet of what we talked about (I actually spoke for a while about the Wakin model of limerence and why I disagreed with it, so it was funny to hear they had Dr Wakin on the podcast!), but that makes sense now in the context of the theme of the show.

“Many people struggle with these feelings, but most of them find ways of coping to differing degrees” is admittedly rather less exciting than “Obsession! Stalkers!”

I think most of us internalise the experience and when taking action doing things like making contact, going to places they might be, but this makes it sound like we are stalkers and murders!!!

Was nice to put a voice to your “name”. I was featured a bit in the first episode and I like how they handled the material. I am wondering if my story will appear on successive episodes. A very interesting listen all around.
